I did a little more work on NAS Memphis and the old web pages says that it is a civilian airport now.  There was a reserve VP unit there in the 70s and 80s after I got out.  I had thought about staying in the active reserve, but there were no billets in either NAS Memphis or NAS Dallas for my AQ rating.

A lot of bases got closed in the early 90s when the military was cut back.  This is about the time they closed the recruit training command at San Diego.

The four Vigi pictures were taken in January 2000 at Millington, TN.  I had not seen a Vigi in almost 30 years.  It was nice to see one at the old Aviation "A" School base.  Most of the old "A" school facilities were long gone by then.  NAS Memphis across the road had been closed for a long time.  The remaining base is a communication and personnel facility.

The building behind the plane was a new recreation building with a gym.  The ladies there had some interesting stories about the old guys who showed up  to look at the plane.

The plane had been well maintained and is still there.

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges.

Everyone may have noticed that your web browser was forcing you to turn on Flash to see your badge. Adobe is doing away with Flash in a couple months so the Badges function will stop working completely then so we've removed that  feature from the main page.
