Came to H-9 in Albany fresh out of AMH "A" school just as they returned from the Forrestal cruise in the spring of 73. Assigned to the line crew as a Plane Captain. Made the 74 Indy Med cruise, first half in Rota, second half on the boat det. After 3 weeks of quals on SARA we were moved to NIMITZ. Made the North Atlantic cruise and started the 76 Med cruise, finishing up in A/F shop as a cat checker on night shift before being discharged in August. Came home and eventually took a commission as a reserve intel officer. Also did a year in the national guard just for fun. Loved the Vigi and had great shipmates. Wish we could do it all over again.

Just spent an enjoyable day at the Navy Aviation Museum at Pensacola NAS. Have been there before but really enjoyed this visit. The only bad part was there was no Vigi on display. They said it had been moved out onto the flight line for possible reconditioning.

My other Navy aircraft was the S-2, while with VS30 @ NAS Boca Chica. It was also out of the museum, but still accessable near the back of the parking area.

I came to Heavy 9 From A School in 72. Made the Forrestal & Indy cruises. Left h-9 in 75 right before the Nimitz cruise. Later joined the navy reserves at Glenview,Ill working on P 3's and then for 6 years on F 4's & F14's at NAS Dallas,Tx. The time I spent in Heavy 9 will always be my favorite time in the Navy. Terry

Was sent a cool link of a Vigi arriving at Castle AFB Museum.  This poor bird, with h-7 markings, is going to need a lot of TLC before it goes on display.  https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=3de5e7b5bf50af56&Bsrc=Photomail&...

Joined H-9 out of Millington (A-school) Nov '62. Cuban Missile crisis, 2 Med cruises, West Pac cruise (65-66). Out as AQB2 '66. Worked 5 1/2 years for RCA as EET in color tv new product design, left RCA and graduated Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in'76. Practiced in FL until July '10 when I sold my practice. Still doing a little fill-in work for other practices and mostly just enjoying life.
Very proud of my time in the Navy and grateful for the time to grow up a little before taking on life.

As I posted earlier I was with 9 for the Rota /Med tour in 71. I have been looking for a few of the shipmates and wondered if any of you ever came accross either Chris Coyle or Gary Foister. I worked with both in Airframes.
