Terry--"Steve" Schornack I believe.
I just checked a Saratoga yearbook from 1970 [after I left the squadron] and there was a PT - 3 Cooney in RVAH -9.
Terry-I looked him up. The guy on the left is Schornack. We called him Puppy Dog. Not sure of the first name.
Terry- Barry Freer (far right) became an LDO. GW "Boo Boo" Brown (ADJ-2) center. Far left is "Puppy Dog" forget the last name but I trained him as a Plane Captain.
I am looking for a PT2 or PT3 named Cooney that was in RVAH 9 during the 1967 - 1970 time frame.
I came to Sanford & Heavy Nine in July '57 from AT A school in Memphis. Made Strikeback in 1957 and 2 Med cruises; 58 & 59 on the Super Sara. Had a great time during a detachment to Adana in '59. Of course we went to Gitmo too!! I was fortunate enough to run the flight deck crew for the Radio Shop in '59. All the Hoot Owls were great guys and great shipmates; many for life. Loved the A3D.

Dennis,
I met and married a WAVE right after we got back from the Forrestal cruise in 1973 and we just had our 39th wedding anniversary three weeks ago!
And the Chief said it would never last!
Rick
Yes Rick, I do remember when Waves showed up in Albany. I had a cute blonde, Carol something, working for me in the H3 AQ shop. As I recall, she didn't know which way to turn the speed handle to tighten the bolts while I held the TV Scanner up in the nose.
Came to H-9 in Albany fresh out of AMH "A" school just as they returned from the Forrestal cruise in the spring of 73. Assigned to the line crew as a Plane Captain. Made the 74 Indy Med cruise, first half in Rota, second half on the boat det. After 3 weeks of quals on SARA we were moved to NIMITZ. Made the North Atlantic cruise and started the 76 Med cruise, finishing up in A/F shop as a cat checker on night shift before being discharged in August. Came home and eventually took a commission as a reserve intel officer. Also did a year in the national guard just for fun. Loved the Vigi and had great shipmates. Wish we could do it all over again.
