Hi Larry,

In was an AT2 in the Radio shop and made cruises on the Sara and Ranger, but got out in '60. Before your time.

Welcome aboard......... Hoot Hoot

Trying to figure out this website... Hopefully I've now joined the ranks of Heavy-9 .     I made three cruises with the Hooters:  "69 Wespac on Ranger; '70 & '71 on Saratoga.  Looking for green-shirts that worked the flight-deck from the Radio Shop.

I am sorry Jeff...there is no obituary.  he is just gone.  I do not think I would do very well without him, but I will try to put something in words one day...the emptiness in my life is just too huge.  One cannot love and lose a man like that  and talk about him...but one day I will.  He was 85, died of pneumonia worsened by COPD and other stuff.  He was still building boats and his last one will be put in the water (she never got there while he was alive) the last weekend in June, we hope.  Did I send you the write up about her?  If not I will send it and try to send a photo soon.  The article about the boat will be in a magazine, Messing About in Boats, in June.  Please ask those who cared about it to forgive me.  Most of my time the last year or so was spent caring for him...full time...by myself.  I am so grateful I was able.  I am sad and tired.  I will do him honor...just not right now.  This is what I received.  If you are going to publish so to speak, please remove my name.  The write up is about him.

Steve, I have what Kaylynn has written, just not sure how to get it to you.  Not a formal Obit, but it works in this case.  I am on facebook, and think I can copy what was sent this PM.  Would be happy to send.

I've requested, his widow has taken it very hard, so I'm not sure as to when or if at this time.

I will ask Kaylynn for a copy.

Can you let us know when and where Captain Wilster's Obituary is posted?

Comment by Jeffery James Robertson on April 25, 2018 at 11:07pm

Captain Wilster passed away in Johnson City, TN, for those who are concerned.  Speaking with his wife, there will be no funeral.

If you are interested I posted a picture of the first IOIC graduating class in March 1964.

Heading back to Boca Chica for an 4/2/16 air show. Left there in 1978.
