For those who served in the RVAH Community, their families, and friends!
HEY BUDDY, MY NAME IS MICHEAL BEASLEY, I WAS IN H-5 71-74 MADE THE ENTERPRISE, RANGER AND THE CONSTELLATION CRUISE. WHEN I GOT TO H-5 I WAS A E-2 AND WHEN I LEFT WAS AN E-5, I WORKED IN POWER PLANTS. GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
I made Carrier Quals for the Enterprise cruise then came back to Albany and was in sole custody of my daughters so took an early out (23 months) to care for them. was sick when I heard about Commander Everett what a great CO, I was in the AME shop and had just made E-3.
Did you get a backseat ride in the Vigi during an in-port stay at Cubi Pt.? I flew about 20 of those flights and remember your name.
No didn't get the ride. Would have liked to. I was in AIMD base shop an AE worked on flight control electronics.but hung out with many squadron guys. I got to H-5 as E3 left as E4 missed E5 because of the price wage freeze, would have sewn on if I had stayed in. Second increment wasn't soon enough before discharge. One of the biggest mistakes of my life was getting out.
Sorry to wait so long to reply, but I just got your email this morning. I have heard of getting lost the mail, but.
I was PH2 Photographer, and left H5 in Sept. of 72 after the Enterprise Westpac and the Whidbey detachment. I was involved in a motorcycle wreck on the way to quarters and spent the next six months riding my ass. I was scheduled to go on the Ranger cruise, but had to accept a medical in March of 73.
I have still got the Big "E" cruise book and have digitized it. I make notes on the pages when I located someone and post them to this site where you can download them. I you want a higher resolution picture, I need to send it directly.
Did you have a nickname or handle?
Mike Mason here, I was in H-5 73-77. AMS. Welcome.
