RVAH-5 40TH DECOMMISSIONING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION/REUNION - Update

Greetings to All.....

Gary Kilbride, (H5 57 - 60) has gracisouly volunteered to provide his time and equipment enabling the viewing of pictures/video while we are gathered at the Naval Air Museum.  The museum will be providing a large screen tv/monitor which Gary will be able to plug directly into.
So, for all you folks who did a much better job than I did taking and keeping pic's of your "Heavy time" and would like to share with the reunion group please send your pic's (soft copy) to Gary.  Gary's email is brigand2@aol.com
I only had a few pic's to share but I sent them to Gary......  Hopefully many of you will be able to share you memories as well.
So far we have 53 fellow Savage Son's who have signed up for the reunion.  God willing and the river don't rise most will make it.
Also, don't forget to order your reunion T shirt if you are able........
thanks....
Joe

Greetings fellow Savage Sons. I have a small announcement regarding the upcoming reunion this Sept. I've talked to several companies offering tee-shirts,etc.. trying to get a good deal / discount. The companies did not want to play without known quantities to be sold or wanting all the $$$ up front. I finally found a shop who will help support our reunion effort regardless of how few or how many are "T's" are ordered. I'm hoping for all who plan on attending to order a "T". Would be really cool for our group there at the Museum to all have the "reunion T". For whatever reason folks will not be able to attend I hope they too will consider to buy a "reunion T". It has been reported that former Savage Sons NFO/RAN, George Geer, passed away in Pensacola yesterday. George was with Heavy 5 on the last cruise on the Ranger (not sure when he reported aboard). I will attempt to keep everyone updated on services and such as the info becomes available.

If you had RSVP'd the original Reunion event listing please do it again on the new event listing. (RVAH-5 Reunion Event)

Tried to update original but for whatever reason the software wouldn't let me so I replaced it with a new one.

Joseph,

I am not sure how many PH's are in this Group, but all the Heavy-5 photographers took their "A" (photography) and "C" (electronics) schools in Building 1500 at NAS Pensacola.  It is no longer the "Naval School of Photography", but since it is now the headquarters for the NAS, their must be some history within for those interested.

Here is an interesting link about the building.

Here is an assignment picture I took and processed while going to "A" in 1970.

Note the name in the lower right-hand corner.
