I think that I was the last B/N trained for Whales in 1964 and I reported to Heavy 11 aboard Roosevelt which was in Gitmo at the time. Soon, we departed on a Med cruise. My pilot was Jerry Catron but I can't recall the name of our 3rd crewman. Any help? After two cruises, I received orders to pilot training....

Guys, Glad you slipped this group in!! Was in VAH-8,6 FIRST. You got to love those big turtles, they did everything but fly mach 1+. You knew when they landed onboard, for sure. sez ae-pete

I do not think it rains so much at Whidbey comaired to the afternoon thunder storms in Sanford. I did enjoy the approch from the east down the valley. In the spring the flowers growing just south of Mt. Vernon was a something to enjoy.

Have been on the line at Whidbey and Sanford. Will take Whidbey any day over Sanford. A moon rising over Mt. Baker makes up for a black or rainy night all the time. Sanford city lights and always someone around. Even had the Marines chasing a lost woman driving on the taxi strip on new years.

I wasn't around when the Heavies where all A-3D's but I was in Heavy 3 when we had A-3D2T's and I had time in VAQ-34 at Pt Mugu, CA. with our EA-3B's and EKA-3B! Does that count?

NOTE to the H-3 tractor driver, NEVER honk your horn when you're taking a Whale back to the line from the wash rack (in Sanford) with a PC trainee riding the brakes!!! Wonder if those skid marks are still on the ramp?

Actually due to a timing issue at the banquet I didn't get a chance to tell anyone. You founds it through the same invitation I sent everyone. You'll get used to it Joe. Just find the pages you like and go there.

This is not replacing RVAHNAVY. It's jsut a place that has a hell of a lot more features such as the ability to share photos and videos. The older concept of a forum like our old one requires a lot of upkeep. This new site is easier to maintain.

RVAHNAVY will still be our website forever.
