For those who served in the RVAH Community, their families, and friends!

I was a Plane Captain on Bu# 138973 (aka Rockbridge 608 aboard Kitty Hawk) in VAH 13. 1962-64. So far I've tracked her through refurb to be a Tanker (KA3B) @ NARF with subsequent assignment to CVW-8 as "AJ 610" detachment aboard The Shangri-La. Retired in 1970 to MASDC near Tucson as Inventory#2A0052. Still in "SARDIP", but I can't find final disposition. Probably scrapped out after 40 yrs, but I can always hope she made it to a museum somewhere. Does anyone know where I can go to find more info?

My name is Larry Wing (L "Bingo" Wing).

Hello Larry. I've been looking for a photo of your airplane with no luck. You may want to check out this A-3 Skywarrior Assoc. website: http://a3skywarrior.com/index.php?nid=100089&s=hm. They have an extensive collection of Whale photos. Also, Whales on FaceBook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=118109324909103&ref=ts#!/group.php?gid=118109324909103 .

Found this info: 138973 to KA-3B Jun 1967. TO MASDC as 2A0052 Dec 13, 1970 (http://www.joebaugher.com/navy_serials/thirdseries16.html).

Hope this helps.
Richard: Thanks for providing some more leads. I'll continue my search. I know she (138973 - VAH 13 NH 608) went to (and is still shown as being in) "SARDIP" I suspect that the final disposition records aren't complete, The last squadron she served was CVW 8 detachment aboard the Shangri-La as AJ 610, a KA3B. Retired in 1970. I do have a photo of that deployment and of course I have photo's of my own. I know she's probably been scrapped, but would like to complete the obituary. I think it's great that NAS Whidbey is going to put one by the CPO club. The preservation efforts are really laudible. For those of us who flew in and worked on the A3D it's a very worthwhile effort for a unique aircraft.
Thanks for your input.
