Obituary for Dennis Stephen Waite

Dennis Stephen Waite passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the age of 67 years. Husband of Joanne Otley Waite. Father of Wendy Waite Domb (Lonnie), Jason Waite (Adrienne), Justin Waite (Jennifer), and the late Jaime Waite, Shawn Waite, Courtney Waite, and Corey Waite. Son of the late Vivian Grube Waite and Ronald Emerson Waite. Grandfather of Sydney and Chloe Waite. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He retired from the U.S. Navy as an Avionics Electronic Technician after 20 years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran and his duty stations included Millington, TN, Marietta, GA, Key West, FL, Norfolk, VA, and finally Belle Chasse, LA. After retirement he worked briefly with Eastern Airlines in Miami, FL, then returned to the New Orleans area as an Electronics Technician with Loral Aerospace/Ford Aerospace working with the Department of the Navy, Naval Aviation Engineering Service Unit, in Belle Chasse, LA. This resulted in a Federal position of the same until he became disabled. He was a native of Bradford, PA and a resident of Harvey, LA for 28 years. He was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 219 in Harvey, coach for various youth soccer and baseball teams over the years and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council (St. Martha's Catholic Church). A graveside service and military burial will be held at a later date in Punxsutawney, PA. In lieu of flowers, as Dennis was an avid animal lover, please send donations to Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society or any other animal welfare organization of your choice.
